Q&A with Krishnam Gupta, Software Engineer

Tell me a little bit about your background and what led you to work at Audere.

  • I completed my Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science from IIIT-Hyderabad. During my sophomore year, I was seeing giant strides in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. I saw a self-driving car right at our college campus. I was fascinated! That motivated me to go deeper into this field.

  • Flash forward 4 years, I was working in a healthcare startup. No fancy self-driving cars, but the problems that we were working on were more relevant and impactful. One of the biggest challenges was (and is) accessibility. Quality healthcare is not accessible to everyone.

  • I moved to the USA a few months back, and was looking for new opportunities. I came across Audere and after talking to multiple folks and getting to know more about what Audere was doing, I made up my mind to join the mission.

In your own words, what are your core responsibilities at Audere?

  • I am a Software engineer, specializing in machine learning and computer vision. Currently, I am building image-based ML solutions that will enable at-home testing for various health conditions.

What is your Why?

  • I feel that healthcare as a sector has not seen deep technology penetration compared to some other sectors. There are a lot of opportunities to bridge gaps using tech in healthcare. That is my primary motivation. And doing so through a non-profit ensures that the solutions we are building are not out of reach to the people that need them the most.

What are you most excited about working at Audere?

  • Working with awesome people and building innovative solutions.

How do you like to spend your off-work hours (mornings, evenings, weekends)?

  • I like to burn off carbs in the evening. I love playing tennis and swimming.

  • On the weekends, I enjoy exploring around with my wife (we live in San Francisco), going to new places, and trying different types of food.

What new hobbies have you taken up during the pandemic?

  • I finished a very long anime that I have wanted to watch for a long time.

  • I have become more invested in my health and try to incorporate exercise or jogging as part of my regular routine.

Share three facts that your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you.

  • I am a big sci-fi and anime fan and am trying my hand in writing some short sci-fi stories.

  • I am a Space nerd and like to keep myself updated on all new discoveries happening up there.

  • I am a big foodie and trying to eat all different types of food, one cuisine at a time! Korean hot dogs are one of my favorites. Ethiopian food and ramen are also some new tries that I liked.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

  •  Instant Teleportation to any place! I would go to Japan, Iceland, and New Zealand.
